Spring Newsletter 2022

Dear Fellow Club Members,

We hope that you are all well and have not had a dose of Covid in the latest rise in cases and are fit and keen to return to Islip Bowls Club.

The Committee met on 3rd April, a little later than planned, due to Covid amongst its members, but had a productive meeting to discuss the start of the new season.

*Pete Saddington led the organisation of the Quiz Night which took place on Sat 12th March. Approximately 55 people attended. A fun evening was had by all and the Fish and Chips from the new proprietors of Ben’s Chippy got the thumbs up! £375 was made for the Club, so many thanks to Pete and to you for all for your support.

*The Committee decided that Islip Bowls Club will NOT be taking part in the National Big Bowls Weekend this year. It will be considered again for next year.

*22-23 Subscription fees will remain at £40 and roll up fees will also remain at £2 as the Club has managed to reduce its expenditure more than usual over the winter months this year.

Many thanks to the 9 people who are supporting the club via easyfundraising when shopping on line. To date you have made £78.26p for the club. If you haven’t participated in this scheme yet, please consider it, or tell friends and family, as the funds make a real difference to the health of our bank balance. Go to

We know it seems a long time ago now, but if you were not able to make the AGM at the end of last season, you will have missed the summary of the Centenary Questionnaire. A copy is on the Club Notice Board for your information. It makes interesting reading!

Thank you to all who took the time to fill in one of the questionnaires.

Finally, we would like to remember our valued club member Tony James, who after contracting Covid, sadly died in December 2021. Christine, his wife, has decided she will be returning to the club this season. I’m sure you will all agree, that we will be very pleased to see her and offer her our friendship and support.

We look forward to the new season. See you on 13th Apr at Subs Night.

With very best wishes from Islip Bowls Club Committee
